CSRC Report: "ICUC's Youth Organizing Efforts in the Inland Empire"
By Veronica Terriquez (UCLA) and Jazmine Miles (UCSC)
August 2022
Adolescents and young adults have the potential to define social policies and exercise a voice in
government elections. This is particularly the case when they receive training, support, and guidance
from experienced peers and caring adults. Since 2005, the Inland Congregations United for Change (ICUC) has played a vital role in preparing young people to exercise civic leadership in the Inland Empire (IE) counties of Riverside and San Bernardino. This report focuses on ICUC’s youth programming efforts in recent years and concludes by discussing the lasting implications of ICUC’s work for young people, their families, and their communities.
