CSRC Library Presents Day of the Dead Exhibit

The CSRC Library is pleased to host an exhibition of artworks from students' final projects for CCAS 113: Day of the Dead Ritual & Visual Culture, taught by Gaby R. Gomez in Summer Session C, 2024.

The final exam consisted of two components: a short essay and a creative project. The creative project provided students with an opportunity to express their knowledge and understanding of Day of the Dead, after the six week course curriculum, through their creative views of the practice’s traditions and visual culture. Students were given the freedom to produce any works they could achieve within the short timeframe as long as their art reflected or was inspired by the artists and artworks examined throughout the course.

The exhibition will be on view November 1 - December 13, 2024.
CSRC Library, 144 Haines Hall, UCLA Westwood Campus.
Hours: Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The exhibition was curated by Gaby R. Gomez, Ph.D. candidate in the César E. Chávez Department of Chicana/o and Central American Studies.
