Salomón Huerta is a critically acclaimed, Los Angeles-based artist. Raised in Boyle Heights’ Ramona Gardens public housing project, Huerta holds degrees from Art Center College of Design (BFA) and UCLA (MFA ’98). He first gained critical success with his minimalist portraits of the backs of people's heads and color-saturated depictions of houses. Huerta’s art has been exhibited at the 2000 Whitney Biennial, Gagosian Gallery, and Studio La Città. It is also included in the CSRC-organized exhibition Home—So Different, So Appealing at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), through October 15, 2017. Huerta is a UC Regents' Lecturer at UCLA for Fall 2017.

Rose G. Salseda is a Ford fellow and Ph.D. candidate in art history at the University of Texas, Austin. Her dissertation, The Visual Art Legacy of the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, focuses on two generations of artists who have made work in response to the unrest and related episodes of racial violence. Salseda is the associate director of the U.S. Latinx Art Forum, an advocacy organization dedicated to expanding and enhancing the visibility of Latinx art. This event is co-sponsored by the U.S. Latinx Art Forum.
